Member Information

Name of Gilbert Stuart Member
This must be the number you have ACCESSABLE and ON YOUR PERSON while using any boat rented from the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace & Museum.
You must be have an active membership at the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace & Museum in order to rent any boat or watercraft from the Museum.

Row Boat Rental Agreement 2026:

  • I certify that I will examine the rowboat and find it suitable for the purpose for which it is leased prior to taking the boat.
  • I agree to return the rowboat and all equipment in the same condition as it was received, excluding ordinary wear and tear.
  • I agree to pay for all damages done to the rowboat and/or equipment during the term of this agreement.
  • I agree to hold The Gilbert Stuart Memorial, Inc. harmless should damages occur to any of my property while carried in, or on, the rowboat, including the loss or damage caused by water, theft or any other cause.
  • I agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Gilbert Stuart Memorial, Inc. from any and all claims for loss of or damage to property or injury to person—including death—resulting through the use, operation or possession of said rowboat.

Boating Rules and Regulations 2026

  • You must be a current member of the Museum (aka GSM), and an adult (age 18+) in order to rent a boat from the Museum.
  • ONLY the GSM’s boats may be launched from GSM property, docks and/or shoreline.
  • Boats are available by reservation only. A reservation is not official until it has been confirmed by GSM personnel.
  • Boats are only available for rental on days when the Museum is open to the public..
  • Boats may be rented from as early as 6 am, and must be returned to the Museum at least 30 minutes before the day’s scheduled closing time. It is the boater’s responsibility to ascertain when they need to return.
  • Boats are rented at the following rate:
    • $20 for 12 foot boats (capacity: 2 adults or 1 adult and 2 children)
    • $25 for 14 foot boats (capacity: 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children)
  • In the event that I do not return the boat by the agreed upon time, I agree to pay for overtime at the following rate:
    • $20 for every 10 minutes, or part thereof until you and your party have returned all equipment and left the property.
  • Alcohol is NOT permitted on GSM grounds or in the boats.
  • ALL boaters MUST WEAR a personal flotation device while on the boat.
  • It is the boater’s responsibility to remain aware of and follow all applicable laws.
  • Electric trolling motors are allowed.
  • Fishing is not permitted from the dock, dam, or shoreline of GSM grounds
  • Neither boating nor fishing is permitted in the millpond.
  • Pets are not allowed on the Museum’s grounds or in the boats.
  • All trash and other items that do not belong to the Museum must be removed from GSM property.
  • Whenever possible, boaters should park in the lower parking lot.
