On Wednesday, August 12, 1891 – 135 years ago to the night – the already famous Gilbert Stuart Birthplace made history once again.
Beth Berry will take you back to the summer of 1891, and the Gilded Age in South County. She will introduce you to the larger-than-life personality of Captain George M. Kenyon: a hot-tempered hotelier, ship’s captain and entrepreneur looking to turn the Birthplace of Gilbert Stuart into a tourist destination. Things didn’t go to plan and on August 12 shots rang out – and the handyman, Jack McInnis, drew his last breath.
This immersive performance will visit the locations from event, moving through the property as the story unfolds.
